Bite size strawberry shortcakes are perfect for a little something sweet after a summer meal.
We’re all known for what we do every day in the world. Our work, hobbies or the things people know we’re good at. But what about the secret talents that most people don’t know about? We all have them. What’s yours?
Enjoy these Grilled Salmon and Vegetable Skewers at any gathering this summer.
Three years ago, when my daughter left for college, I suddenly found myself avoiding my kitchen. I no longer had to cook a meal every night or figure out a way to make leftovers interesting the next day. At first, it was liberating. No cooking schedule or meal planning. I could eat popcorn for dinner if I wanted to.
I love going to day spas. An hour or two of pampering makes me feel like I’ve been on a mini vacation. I always leave feeling rested, rejuvenated and happy. Unfortunately, I don’t always have time to get to a spa, so I have to recreate the experience at home. Fluffy towels, candles, and good music set the mood. My favorite spa products are old school and come straight from the drugstore. Here are five of my favorites:
Queen Helene Mint Julep Mask
A drugstore favorite, this mint green mask has been around for years. I’ve been using it since college. It works well, and the price is right.
Dr Teal’s Lavender Epsom Salt Soaking Solution and Ultra Moisturizing Body Wash, Soothe & Sleep with Lavender.
Epsom salt and a body wash are combined into one. Epsom salt is soothing and therapeutic. The soft lavender scent ties it all together.
Neutrogena Body Oil
This lightweight body oil is perfect right after a bath. My skin always feels soft an smooth after using this.
Gather everything you need, unplug, relax and enjoy your home spa experience.
Scents are fantastic accessories for your body or home. I’m always experimenting with essential oils to create blends for new products. My love for fragrances inspired me to study aromatherapy. Currently, I’m developing an organic essential oil room spray line. I wanted to share a room spray recipe that you can make at home. Remember to store your sprays in a cool place away from sunlight. Avoid spraying on linen, fabric and furniture to prevent staining.
Here’s what you need:
Energizing Room Spray
4oz dark glass spray bottle
1 oz vodka
2 oz distilled water
15 drops basil essential oil
15 drops rosemary essential oil
15 drops orange essential oil
5 drops peppermint oil
Combine all of the ingredients into a bottle and shake well.
The finished scent is bright and fresh. Open a window to catch a gentle breeze and let the scent swirl around the room.
My love for perfume oils began in high school. I remember blending scents together to create something unique and special. Perfume oils are a wonderful addition to your scent collection. They’re portable and gentler on your skin, since they don’t contain alcohol. Another benefit, the oil will help moisturize your skin. Here are a few quick tips on how to get the most out your perfume oils.
1. Why choose a perfume oil over a fragrance oil? Perfume oils are more concentrated and will stay on your skin longer. Since they use rollerballs for application, you can control how much you use. Just remember less is more. You don’t want your scent to linger long after you’ve left a room.
